Richard C. Goodwin, 67, of Iowa City, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 6:44 p.m. November 2, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
He was born August 19, 1950 in Ottumwa to Andrew Jack and Marilyn Moore Goodwin. He married Mary Kremer and they later divorced.
Richard was a 1968 graduate of Ottumwa High School and had worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works.
He was a member of Empire Masonic Lodge #269 A.F. & A.M., Davenport Consistory, Ottumwa Shrine Club and the NRA. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughters, Tara Wright of Iowa City and Laura Stern of Colorado; 5 grandchildren, Halle, Phebe and Karle Wright, Michael Goodwin Jr. and Sophia Stern; his mother, Marilyn Goodwin of Ottumwa; brother, Lyle (Janice) Goodwin of Ottumwa; and sister, Carmen Thomas (Emilio Carrillo) of Tucson, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Goodwin and son, Michael Goodwin Sr.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m. Sunday with the family present form 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. A Masonic service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
