Roberta Ann (Wood) Pedrick passed away on February 2nd, 2017 at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa. She was born on March 6, 1937 in Monrovia, California to Glenn and Minnie (Dommer) Wood, they returned to Unionville, Iowa and then to Ottumwa, where she was raised.
She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1955 and worked at Harper and McIntire, a wholesale hardware company. Roberta married Hugh Pedrick in 1956. They had one daughter, Anita (David) Meinert of Oskaloosa.
After her daughter was born, Roberta began college at Ottumwa Heights and finished her undergraduate degree at William Penn College, and graduate studies at Truman State University. She taught at Agassiz Elementary School in Ottumwa for twenty-two years, retiring in 1992.
Roberta was a Wapello County 4-H leader and active in retired Ottumwa School Personnel and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She had been a promoter of the Morgan horse in Iowa for thirty-eight years as a Morgan Horse Club member and was elected to the Iowa Horseman Hall of Fame by the Iowa Horse Shows Association.
Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by two grandchildren, Laura of Des Moines and Chris of Oskaloosa; a sister, Beverly (Neil) Weyland of Cedar Rapids; four nieces, Terri (Greg) Weyland - Henecke, Kathy (Bill) McCauley, Becky (Tracy) English, Carmen Weyland, and one nephew, Alan(Janice)Weyland, of the Cedar Rapids area.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2017 with Pastor Liz Colton officiating at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa, 220 N Court St., Ottumwa, IA. 52501. Burial will follow services in Ottumwa Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at Sinnott Funeral Home in Ottumwa.
