Romona C. Simmons, 83, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, June 06, 2019 at the Willow Tree Home in Delta, Colorado.
Services 10:30 AM Saturday, June 15 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant with in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation 12-9 PM Friday with family present 5-7PM.

Mrs. Simmons, the former Romona Charline Vaughn, was born July 15, 1925, the daughter of Harold and Pearl Vaughn. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1953. She married Richard Lee Simmons on March 4, 1955. He died November 6, 1994 in Mt. Pleasant.
Romona worked for the Des Moines County Home, the former Metromail Group of Mt. Pleasant and the Henry County Care Facility until her retirement in 1995.
Romona enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing, collecting porcelain dolls and completing jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives and NASCAR cheering for Kyle Busch.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Kay) Simmons of New London; daughters Charline (Lyle) of Drakesville, Brenda Ford of Eugene, OR, Roberta (Chris) Cunningham of Edgewood, NM, Florene (Ed) Pross of Fairfield, Tina (Clay Freeman) Larson of Montrose, CO and Tara Burt of Montrose; 3 brothers - Rick (Karen)Vaughn of San Angelo, TX, George (Anna) Vaughn of Wapello, IA and Darrell (Cheryl) Vaughn of Mt. Pleasant; 2 sisters, Patricia (Faylon) Palmer of Winfield, IA and Dalena Vaughn of Mt. Pleasant, a sister-in-law, Delores Vaughn of Mt. Pleasant; 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Romona is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Richard and Robert Vaughn and 3 sisters - Beverly Duncan, Shirley McDowell and Roberta Vaughn.
