Ron  Jay


Ronald "Jaybird" Jay, 67, of Ottumwa, went to Heaven at 5:13 a.m. July 7, 2019 at Hospice House.
He was born April 11, 1952 in Ottumwa to Gilbert and Garnet Jay. He married Lynne Tozer January 18, 1972 in Nuremberg, Germany.
Ron graduated from Ottumwa High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ron retired from Winger Contracting, in 2016.
Surviving are his wife, Lynne; two sons, Travis (Shantel) and Trevor "Toby"; 3 grandchildren, Christopher (Shelby), Alexis and Taryn; 2 step-grandchildren Crystal (Shane) and Chelsea 2 step-great grandchildren, Harper and Rory; his father, Gilbert; 5 siblings, Lowell, Kathy, Madeline, Phyllis and Janice; a special friend, Kyle Beacom.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Garnet.
His body has been cremated. Visitation with his family present will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home.

You will be missed by everyone you touched Ronnie. So glad I had the privilege of knowing and working with you. We sure had som great times laughing and teasing each other and you were always there to help when I needed your advice, help or a smile. God gained a bright star in heaven with you Ronnie. Hope to see you again in the great beyond. Love and miss you brother.
