Rose's Story

Rose Etta Maxine Paulos, 88, of Ottumwa died at 8:05 p.m. January 26, 2018 at the Oskaloosa Care Center.
She was born April 24, 1929 in Ottumwa to Verl and Lydia Parks Bailey. She married Robert Paulos October 1, 1945. He preceded her in death January 24, 2009.
A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, she worked as a nurses aid for 14 years at several nursing homes, retiring in 1984.
A devout Christian, she was faithful at attending church until she was physically unable.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Ann (Danny) Toubekis, Thelma L. Meeker, Christina (Jack) Showman and Roberta (James) Bradley, all of Ottumwa; two sons, Stephen E. (Marie) Paulos and Paul D. (Sally) Paulos both of Ottumwa; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Runnells of Ottumwa; a brother, Carl Bailey of Ottumwa; two sisters-in-law, Carole Paulos of Eddyville and Emma "Skippy" Bailey of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph M. Paulos; a daughter, Margaret Scully; two sons-in-law, Charles Meeker and Gerald Scully; three brothers, John, Clarence and Charles Bailey; two sisters, Mary Bailey and Roberta Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to Oskaloosa Care Center.
