Rosemary's Story

Rosemary Leanne Reed passed away at home January 4, 2018 after a brief illness. Rosemary was born November 22, 1947 to Ira Lowell McConnell and Marjorie (McGuire) McConnell. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1966 and moved to Ottumwa, marrying Mike Reed in 1970; they later divorced. While married she lived briefly in Brunswick, Maine, where her daughter Marsena was born. In 1983 Rosemary moved to Unionville, IA and worked for Modern Muzzleloading for almost 10 years. In 2000 Rosemary moved back to Ottumwa to work for TENCO Industries. In 2009 Rosemary published "Marjorie's Vine", a compilation of her mother's writings for the Daily Iowegian. Rosemary retired in 2010 and moved to Pella with Marsena in 2015. Rosemary enjoyed reading, gardening, cats, feeding the birds, playing games with family and friends, and living in Pella.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Christopher, Craig, and David McConnell; sister Nancy Ewing and nephew Chad Ewing. She is survived by daughter Marsena Reed, her Uncle Robert (Pat) McConnell, brother-in-law David Ewing, nephews Brian (Amanda) Ewing, Richard (Denise) Ewing and Jason (Jessica) Ewing, and six great nieces and nephews.

Rosemary's body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13, at 3:00 at the Church of the Nazarene in Pella with a meal following. She will be greatly missed.
