Roy Albert Geary, 80, passed away after a brief illness at the Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville, Florida. As a resident of Davis County, Iowa for much of his life, Roy Geary was a Korean War era Army veteran, 30-year farmer, and a professional long-haul truck driver for three decades before joining and retiring from the Dexter Company of Fairfield, Iowa, a manufacturer of commercial and residential laundry equipment. While in Iowa, one of his favorite pastimes was volunteering at the Old Threshers in Mt. Pleasant. Roy found a great deal of pride and enjoyment in having successfully combined his love of family, travel, and work for more than six decades before retiring with his wife, Gloria, to the Brooksville-Spring Hill, Florida community where they became proud members of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. Whether for work, family, or friends his favorite gift to others were products of his wood working skills, special small treats, and the chili dinners he produced from his own recipes. He and his culinary talents will be remembered by all who encountered them.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gloria (Ramsey) Geary; daughters, Pamela, Lori, and Tammy; sons, Roy, Tony, and Heath; 21 grand/great-grandchildren; and his brother David and sister Arnadene (Geary) Gibson. He was preceded in death by his son Jody Geary, two grandsons - Jacob Nelson and Dallas Amburn, and his parents, Arnold and Margaret Geary.
At Roy's request, no services will be held. Those wishing to make donations in his name and memory may address them to The Humane Society of Brooksville, 7224 Mobley Road, Brooksville, FL 34601, and/or, The National Kidney Foundation, online at www.kidney.org/support.
