Russell Waller Sr.

Russell A. Waller Sr., 72, of Ottumwa, died at 3:28 p.m. September 22, 2018 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born May 30, 1946 in Ottumwa to Charles Lee and Mildred Opal Covert Waller Sr. He married Jonalee Berry on June 17, 1967.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1964, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a mechanic for Ottumwa Transit and then for 22 years at the Ottumwa Country Club.
He was a member of Izaak Walton League, Pheasants Forever and the North American Hunting Club.
Surviving is his wife Jonalee; a son, Russ (Lori) Waller Jr. of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Sidney and Jake Waller; siblings, Larry Waller of Ottumwa, Patty (Leon) Gardner of Arkansas, Gale (Barb) Waller of Ottumwa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Charles Waller Jr., John Waller, Barb Smith, George Waller, Roy Waller, Bonnie Campbell and Kenneth Daniel Waller.
His body has been cremated. A time to celebrate his life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home.
Military honors and inurnment will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shaul Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
