Ruth Moore

September 02, 1917 - October 01, 2018

Ruth B. Moore died October 1, 2018 as a result of age related ailments at the age 101 in the Bloomfield Care Center where she was made to feel at home for the past 9 years. She was born in Davis County September 2, 1917 to Grace (Thompson) & Cliff (J.C.) Wilkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles, her parents, an older brother, De Mar and a younger sister Leona Price. She is survived by her son, Earl Hem and wife, Jan, granddaughters Amanda (Nate) Gallic, and Alyse (Will) Spetter of Mesa AZ. Great-grandchildren include Van, Grayden, and Swell of Spring Valley, CA. and an anticipated great-grandson Cole John Spetter. Other surviving family members include nephew Ronald (Pam) Price, and grandnephews Nathan & Clayton of Davis County.

Ruth was a homemaker in northeast Davis County where she was known for her angel food cakes that she shared with friends and neighbors. Her fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy were a treat unmatched. She was a farmers wife capable of helping with the haying, and is remembered to have nursed 13 sets of twin lambs through a particularly cold winter to the spring, while working full time at the Keosauqua Hospital as an attendant. She helped neighbors dress out chickens getting them ready for the freezer and carried buckets of water for household needs from the spring down the hill when necessary.

Her generosity of time, effort, good humor, stories and willingness to share her neighbors challenges will be missed.

Family members would like to thank all staff members, nurses, and attendants of the Bloomfield Care Center for their care and kindness provided during the time she made the center her home. Their loving care has been much appreciated.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Floris Cemetery with Pastor Olympia Marcos officiating. The family will gather for a meal following the service at Selma United Methodist Church. In accordance with Ruths wishes, rather than flowers, donations to local volunteer fire and rescue departments may be left at the Pedrick Funeral Home or dropped off at the local station. Online condolences may be directed to www.pedrickfuneralhome.com.
