Ruth  Rysdam
Ruth Marie Rysdam, 60, of Bloomfield, died at 10:54 a.m. October 2, 2019 at Vista Woods Care Center from complications of kidney cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
She was born May 17, 1959 in Iowa City to Cleve Harley and Ruth Elaine Dommer Miller. On December 9, 1979 she married Rick Rysdam and they later divorced.
Ruth attended school in New Sharon, Davis County and graduated from Cardinal High School. She earned her CNA from IHCC in 1975. Ruth worked from 1975 to 2005 at Sunnyslope Care Center, Jefferson Square, Bloomfield Care Center, Schuyler County Nursing Home and Davis County LTC, Acute and Home Health.
Ruth was a member of Floris Baptist Church where she helped with Bible school. She volunteered over 2000 hours with Head Start.
She enjoyed making blankets, baking, hunting, camping, fishing, dancing and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Elaina Abbott and Jody Norton both of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her mother, Ruth Miller of Bloomfield; 5 brothers, Stanley (Linda) Miller of Bloomfield, Wilfred (Judy) Miller of Oskaloosa, Douglas (Joan) Miller of Sycamore, IL, Dwight (Sarah) Miller and Frank (Lori) Miller both of Floris; mother-in-law, Betty (Eldon) Spurgeon of Eldon; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cleve "Buster" Miller; a son-in-law, Gregory Abbott; grandparents, Wilfred and Greta Dommer and Frank and Minerva Miller.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
