Shirlene  White


Shirlene White, 86, of Ottumwa, died at 6:56 p.m. July 18, 2019 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
She was born March 3, 1933 in Kirksville, MO to Alva and Alice Crowder McFarland. Shirlene married Bobby G. White on December 25, 1951 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1996.
A 1951 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Shirlene worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 31 years in the payroll and personnel departments, retiring in July 1985.
After retirement she enjoyed serving as a tour guide for the Bernece Ryan Bus Tours of Oskaloosa for 10 years, conducting tours all over the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Surviving are two daughters, Pam (Paul) Watson of Ft. Mill, SC and Jan (Steve) Wetrich of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Megan Watson (Ted Johnson), Amy (Calvin) Woodard, Steven (Megan) Wetrich and Michael Wetrich (fiancée Marissa Simplot); 5 great-grandchildren, Ty, Emma and Tate Wetrich, Ella and Palmer Woodard; a sister, Karen Ullrich and a brother, Rick (Connie) McFarland both of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry McFarland.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Monday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Tuesday
