Thelma M. Fredricksen, 94, of Ottumwa, died at 5 a.m. September 13, 2017 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born June 24, 1923 in Wapello County to John S. and Vera D. Crady Carter. She married William "Fred" Fredricksen on November 25, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2015.
A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, Thelma was a 1941 graduate of Ottumwa High School and attended the Iowa Success School. She worked for 39 ½ years at Northwestern Bell, retiring in 1980.
She attended Bethany Baptist Church. Thelma was a member of Ottumwa Women's Club and Telephone Pioneers.
Thelma enjoyed square dancing and camping.
Surviving is her daughter, Deborah Lynn (Bill) Springer of Ottumwa; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Gene Carter.
Graveside services and burial will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to Prairie Hills Activity Fund.
