Vicky Lynn Hults, 58, of Ottumwa died December 9, 2017 at her home following a prolonged illness. As per Vicky's wishes her body will be cremated and no funeral services will be performed. Her remains will be scattered by her family in a private observation at a later date.
Vicky was born October 26, 1959 in Ottumwa to Walter Glenn and Lavina "Micki" Deevers. She was a graduate of Eddyville High School in 1978. She was united into marriage to Gary Allen Hults where two children were born unto this union; a son, Lawrence of Ottumwa and a daughter, Latosca of Colorado. Although the marriage later dissolved, they remained closest of friends.
Vicky began her adult working life as a graphic artist for Edwards Publications in Knoxville managing as many as five different newspapers and special sections simultaneously. During her remaining years, she enjoyed working where she was often found to "serve the underserved", always going the extra mile to meet her client's needs. She especially loved working with the youth and concluded her career working with both the Iowa State University Extension Service and with a local domestic violence shelter. She never forgot a name or face and will be missed by many. As her illness progressed and she was forced to leave the workforce, she loved to spend time out-of-doors, following the Iowa Hawkeyes football team, reading and writing, listening to the blues and just being around all types of people.
She is survived by her mother, Lavina Deevers of Ottumwa; a son, Lawrence of Ottumwa; a daughter, Latosca Hults; a granddaughter, Victoria Jones and a grandson, Devin Jones all of Colorado; a brother, Stuart Deevers of Colorado; a sister, Dorinda (Harold) Woods; a niece, Bethany Woods and a nephew, Dylan Woods all of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her fraternal and maternal grandparents; her father, Walter Glenn and a sister, Roxanne Marie Hicks.
Her family and friends will gather in remembrance of her life at a time later to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family in care of Lawrence Hults.
