Walt Baty passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at his home in Summerfield, FL after a lengthy illness.
Walter Dean Baty was born May 9, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the eldest son of Don and Dorothy Cochrell Baty. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1964 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College.
He married Rebecca Perry on August 28, 1965 in Ottumwa. The couple had two sons, Philip and Joseph. They lived in the Chicago area for many years, where Walt was Vice President and CFO for Chicago Kenworth, Inc. They relocated to St. John, Indiana where they lived for nine years while Walt worked for MBI, Inc. of Burnham, IL. After retirement, the couple moved to Summerfield, FL in 2014, where Walt continued to work part time as a financial consultant.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, the warm weather in Florida, and most of all his family.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents and his son Philip.
He is survived by his wife, Becky, his son Joe (Ronda) of Tiffin, IA, grandchildren Jackson and Lexi, and his beloved bulldog, Josie, along with brothers Jim (Vicki) Baty of Moravia, IA and Randy (Becky) Baty of Blue Springs, MO. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Glennis Houseman, sisters-in-law Bonnie (Paul) Shovlain and Ruthann (Dennis) Thompson, brother-in-law Ron (Marilyn) Perry, and several nieces and nephews.
As per Walt's wishes, he was afforded cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Condolences may be sent to Becky Baty at 17535 SE 96th Avenue, Summerfield, FL 34491.

I will miss the wise console from Walt every month. I learned alot from my friend. Praying for peace and comfort for Becky and family.
