Wilma M. McVey, 93, of Fairfield, formerly of Ottumwa, passed away October 3, 2017 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Wilma, the daughter of Lawrence E. and Selma M. Clemens Boyer, was born April 10, 1924 near Keosauqua, IA. She married Lester McVey on July 17, 1943 and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2000.
Wilma had worked briefly outside the home at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in West Burlington and also at Parsons College. Wilma was a hard worker and she took life's problems without complaint.
Surviving are her sons, Randall McVey of Fairfield and Brian McVey of Iowa City; 2 grandchildren, Keegan and Jill; 2 great-grandchildren, Kendall and Lyra; a sister, Irene Stagers of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Carol McVey of Lake Station, IN.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry McVey; her parents; 3 sisters, Dorothy Wood, Marilyn Nelson and Esther Lancaster; 4 brothers, John, Harold, Wayne and infant Leo Boyer.
Her body has been cremated. Graveside services and inurnment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shaul Cemetery.
