Anita Lavonn Proctor, 96, of Ottumwa, passed away at 5:21 p.m. June 27, 2017, surrounded by her family.
She was born February 18, 1921 in Blakesburg to Matthew and Myrtle Lockman Huber. She married Beryl Proctor on July 31, 1940 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2012 after 72 years of marriage.
Anita was a school teacher in Wapello County schools for 50 years.
She was a member of Ottumwa Community Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary "Janie" King, Betty Templeton, Connie Heisdorffer and Bobbi (James) Bettis all of Ottumwa; 6 grandchildren, Emma Patricia (Keith) Nanney, Emery Patrick (Elizabeth) Surber, Beth (James) Browning, Audie Templeton, Kristina Garrett-DeWitt and Jessica Pryor; great-grandchildren, Megan (Karl) Williams, Lydia Williams, Dakota Weston, Ava Bride, Amina LaCari, James Browning and Kaden Browning; a great-great-granddaughter, Lily Williams; step-grandchildren, Felicia Gonzalez and Yolanda Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, LaVerne Fricke and a brother, Franklin Huber.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Wyldes officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ottumwa Community Church or Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties, 927 Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501
