Bobby Dean Miller, age 81, of rural Eddyville, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 09, 2017, at his residence in rural Eddyville.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Friday, October 13, 2017 and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A. M. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel.
A Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:30 A.M., on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Bluff Creek Cemetery in rural Eddyville.
Bob was born on March 29, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised by his parents, Wilbur and Fern (Stahl) Miller. Bob attended school and at a young age went to work in a coal mine.
After a few years at the coal mine Bob enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1954 to 1957 and served during the Korean Conflict and was trained as a welder. Bob continued his career in welding, working at Oskaloosa Engineering, and later working at John Deere as a Welder before owning and operating, Bobs Welding, in the late 1960s. His business remained open for 45 plus years.
On January 28, 1966 in Stronghurst, Illinois, Bob and Florence Alice Lowry Klaaren were united in marriage. They shared over 41 years of marriage together and raised five children; Raygena, James, Steven, Ellen, and Larry. Florence passed away on September 13, 2007.
Bob enjoyed gardening, helping neighbors and spending time on the river with family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Bob is survived by his children; Raygena (Michael Chip) Garringer of Williamsburg, Iowa, James Klaaren of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Steven (Kathy) Klaaren of Ladora, Iowa, Ellen (Morris) Wubbels of New Sharon, Iowa, and Larry D. (Teresa) Miller of New Sharon, Iowa; one brother, Jarman Miller; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves two dear friends; Bryce Veldhuizen and Jane Dykstra. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Florence; one sister, Joyce Sanders; one brother, Jim Miller; two brothers, in infancy and one sibling at birth.
A memorial in Bobs memory may be left to the Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Condolences may be sent to www.eddyvillechapel.com. The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Bobs family with services.
