Donna D. Davis McBeth, age 101, of Ottumwa, died at 1:08 p.m. July 3, 2017 at Timber Ridge Assisted Living in Ottumwa.
She was born June 17, 1916 in Ottumwa to William Dillon "W.D" and Minnie Shaffer Davis. She married James McBeth on September 8, 1940. He preceded her in death in April 1995.
Donna was a 1934 graduate of both Ottumwa High School and the School of Fine Arts. She also attended the Iowa Success School. Her first employment was with the Wapello County Assessor's office. In 1951 she was employed by the Lowenberg Bakery where she was the Executive Secretary for 33 years and Secretary to the Board of Directors for 10 years.
Donna was 90 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa. She was a member of Professional Secretaries International. While in her nineties she enjoyed spending early mornings with her walking group at Indian Hills Community College.
In addition to her parents and husband Donna was preceded in death by Samuel Keyser ("S.K.") Alderdice; her benefactor and her niece, Jane (Lenny) Bates.
Left to cherish her memory are her cousin Sheilah Gailey of Fort Dodge, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Suzann (Glenn) Williamson of Corydon, Iowa, Julie (Dan) Sweeney of Wilmington, Illinois, Christy Nau and Kevin (Michelle) Nau both of Mount Pleasant; Kathy Nau of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Tom (Loretta) Nau of Irving, Texas.
Her body has been cremated. A time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Good Samaritan Society Hospice and Good Samaritan Society - Timber Ridge Assisted Living in Ottumwa.
