Edith M. "Edie" Heemsbergen, 76, of Agency, died April 28, 2017 in Kansas City, MO.
She was born May 27, 1940 in Bladensburg to Noah Samuel and Lola M. Black Reinier. She married George Stouthammer January of 1964. He preceded her in death in May of 1987. She married Gerrit Heemsbergen in January of 1990. He preceded her in death in December of 1990.
A graduate of Agency High School, she had worked as a home health care aid and for several nursing homes.
Edie had been a member of O.B. Nelson Unit #3 American Legion Auxiliary and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She loved birds, cooking, traveling and taking drives in the country.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Shelly (John) Fletchall and Brenda (Tom) Awe both of Kansas City, MO; 6 grandchildren, Corey (Courtney) O'Dell, Kylie (Kenny) O'Dell Hall, Haley Hughes, Ethan Fletchall William Awe and Angelica Awe all of Kansas City, MO; 8 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Stanley Reinier of Martinsburg, Leslie Reinier of Baldwin City, KS and Wayne Reinier of Valpraiso, FL; a sister, Rose Mary Moyer of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Howard and Kenneth Reinier; two sisters, Edna Culley and Elsie Vinson and her beloved dog Mitzi Rose.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Shipley officiating. Burial will be at Batavia Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the family present one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
