Franklin Donald "Sonny" Rupe, Jr., 63, of Ottumwa died February 18, 2017 at his home.
He was born July 10, 1953 to Frank and Celina Vest Rupe, Sr. He married Juansetta Clark on October 13, 1973. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2016.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Indian Hills Community College and Buena Vista University he earned a degree in Design Drafting. He worked at Lowenberg Bakery, Carver Pump in Muscatine and 20 years at Excel Meat Solutions. He was also a carpenter.
He was an avid marble collector, enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his son, Randy (Felicia) Rupe of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mary Ann "Sis" Rupe of Altoona and Becky Jane (George III) Post of Ottumwa; six grandsons, Justin, Austin, Clayton, Joey, Tristan, Wyatt; one great grandson Payton Ray; three brothers, Dean Rupe, Danny (Patty) Rupe and Dave (Sheri) Rupe all of Ottumwa; five stepsisters, Debbie (Kim) Frymoyer, Dixie (Mike) Garmon, Candy Thaxton, Terri and Carla Strawhacker all of Bloomfield and a stepbrother, Doug Strawhacker of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Daisy Rupe; a great granddaughter, Donna Irene Rose Rachford; a sister-in-law, Brenda Rupe; a stepsister, Cindy Strawhacker and a step brother-in-law, Dave Thaxton.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in McIntire Cemetery.
Visitation begins after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Working Man's Christmas Party.
