Jack Champlain Wade, age 70, of Melrose, passed away on January 5, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Jack was born on January 4, 1947 to Edwin Francis and Hazel Maxine (Lamb) Wade in Chariton, Iowa. He attended country school in Lucas County and later attended school in Melrose. Jack raised livestock and was a farmer for all of his working life but worked also as a heavy equipment operator. He had a special talent for working on and fixing machinery. He enjoyed attending antique machinery events, restoring tractors, farm auctions and tractor pulls. Jack never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting and talking with people. Jack is survived by his siblings, Sandra Wade of Lovilia, Crystal Stansberry of Oskaloosa, Arlene (Richard) Riessen of Walcott, James Wade of Melrose, and Tamie (Cameron) Watson of Albia; nieces, Tiffany (Zach) Randall, Lorena Riessen and Caitlyn Watson; nephews, John (Karyn) Stansberry, Wayon (Nikki) Hutt, Eddie Riessen and Hunter Watson. Jack is also survived by ten great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Hazel Wade. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Lovilia Community Center with Jack's family present throughout. As was Jack's wish his body has been cremated and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
