Joe Elmer Sayre, 83, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away June 25, 2017 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri. He was born July 20, 1933 in Green City, Missouri to Arthur Clarence and Dortha Lavelle Daniels Sayre. He married Carol Kinney on June 24, 1956 in Scotland County, Missouri. Carol passed away on January 10, 2003.
Joe was a mechanic for Vaughn Motor Company and Bloomfield Ford, retiring in 1999 after 43 years. He was a mechanic at heart always tinkering with cars, tractors, and lawn mowers. In his free-time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Joe served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church in Scotland County, Missouri.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Philip) Gaffney of Milton, Iowa; three sons, Randy (Dolores) Sayre of Downing, Missouri, Danny (Connie) Sayre of Elkland, Missouri, Rick (Teresa) Sayre of Unionville, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Clarence (Rosalie) Kinney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Charles and Ed Sayre; and mother-and-father-in-law, Ray and Nelda Kinney.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Barker United Methodist Church in Scotland County, Missouri with Pastor Dave Evans officiating. Burial will be at the Barker Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
