Joseph F. McKelvey, 92, of Ottumwa died at 6:30 p.m. March 26, 2017 at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk.
He was born March 1, 1925 in Ottumwa to Joseph F. and Frances Elizabeth Windle McKelvey. He married Patricia Ann McCoy on September 24, 1943 and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2008.
Joseph was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
He worked for 30 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring from the experimental department in 1976.
He was a member of Davis St. Christian Church and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Surviving is his daughter, Linda S. Horner of West Des Moines; two granddaughters, Lori (David) Melz and Amy (Brad) Davidson both of West Des Moines; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Don McKelvey of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Bob, Jack and Dick McKelvey.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor James H. Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in Chisman Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Davis St. Christian Church.
