Larry's Story

Larry Rex Mincks, 75, of Drakesville, Iowa passed away January 18, 2017 at his home. He was born June 3, 1941 in Davis County, Iowa to William Ernest and Vira May Story Mincks. Larry was a farmer and raised sheep. He had also worked as a groundskeeper at Lake Wapello and was a fence builder for over 20 years. He enjoyed trap shooting, eating pumpkin pie, and going to Quik Time in Drakesville to socialize with friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by two brothers, Jim Mincks of Marion, Iowa, Bill Mincks of London, Tennessee; sister, Carol Redmon of Independence, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jack, Gene, Donald, and Dick Mincks; two sisters, Mary Nicoli, Wilma Mincks; and a nephew, Tim Mincks.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. John D. Boatman officiating. Burial will be at the Drakesville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Drakesville Cemetery.
