Ruby Lea Grooms, 100, of Ottumwa, died at 6 a.m. June 23, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born December 17, 1916 in Fairfield, IA to John and Mary "Mae" Adeline Inghram Davidson. She married Lee Bainbridge on November 10, 1934 and he preceded her in death in May 1965. She married Floyd Springer in February 1967 and he preceded her in death in 1969. She married Herb Grooms in November 1971 and he preceded her in death in October 1976.
Ruby was a 1934 graduate of Agency High School. She worked for 23 years for Montgomery Ward, retiring in 1978.
She had been a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church since 1943 and was past president of United Methodist Women.
Surviving is her son, Jerry (Gail) Bainbridge of Ottumwa; a step-son, Max (Sandy) Grooms of Freeport, FL; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by a son Jack Bainbridge; three sisters, Alice Studer, DeElda Hull and Garnet Durfinger; two brothers, Carl and Merle Davidson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Willard Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Leila Disburg officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Willard Street United Methodist Church.
