Shirley E. Barker, 81, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away April 2, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born August 4, 1935 in Davis County, Iowa to Arthur Fenton Jr. and Lucille Rupe Fenton. She married Leon Barker on September 28, 1952 at the Bloomfield Christian Church. Leon passed away on June 12, 1992.
Shirley worked as a teacher's aide for Sieda Head Start for nine years, ran an in-home daycare for 20 years, and then worked at the Cattle Palace in Bloomfield for almost two years. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church.
She is survived by two sons, Ron (Sandy) Barker of Columbia, Missouri, Roger (Karen) Barker of Osage Beach, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny) Barker of Columbia, Missouri, Lauren Barker of Osage Beach, Keeley (Mark) Welsh of Davenport, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Spencer Welsh, Nolan Welsh; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two granddaughters, Stephanie Barker, Mindy Barker.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation and burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date at the Troy Cemetery.
