Wayne A. Rowland, 64, of Naples, FL and formerly of Ottumwa, died at 12:45 p.m. July 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born November 20, 1952 in Ottumwa to James and Maycel Hartman Rowland. He married his high school sweetheart, Ann Shepherd on July 12, 1974 in Ottumwa.
A graduate of Eddyville High School in 1971, he worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 2007.
Wayne liked to sing to his wife, enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren's activities. He especially enjoyed watching their ballgames and teaching them woodworking for 4-H projects. He also loved to be on the floor playing with each new grandchild.
Surviving are his wife, Ann; two daughters, Sarah (Jeff Stemmermann) of St. Louis, MO and Lisa (Jake Davis) of Eddyville; six grandchildren, Ethan, Kyle, Nicole and Blake Davis and Quinn and Will Stemmermann; his mother, Maycel Rowland; two brothers, Dale (Patty) Rowland, Alan (Wendy) Rowland; three sisters, Joan (Ed) Bogdan, Joyce (Steve) Deitch and Linda (Jesse) Haines.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be shared with Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties, 927 Pennsylvania Ave. Ottumwa, IA 52501 or to the family to be designated at a later date.
