Wilma Maxine Wagner, 89, of Ottumwa, died at 9:50 p.m. January 18, 2017 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born August 2, 1927 in Salem, IA at her grandmother's home to Clarence Ruben and Era Van Winkle McBride. She married Edward Wagner on June 23, 1945 in Ottumwa and they were married 56 years. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2001.
Wilma grew up on a farm near Libertyville, IA and was a 1945 graduate of Libertyville High School. Wilma lived in Arkansas City, KS for 30 years and managed an apartment complex there for HUD for 8 years.
She liked collecting teddy bears, playing cards, reading, doing puzzles and eating out with friends and we will all miss her.
Surviving are her children, James R. (Marlena) Wagner and Jo Ellen Jody (Danny) Speer both of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Edrick and Erik Speer, Wendy and JoAnn Wagner; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Heather Speer; step-father, J.I. Danielson and step-brother, Clifford Danielson.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
