A.J. Cavin Obituary

A.J. Cavin, 83, died June 23, 2016 at the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born March 28, 1933 to Jesse G. And Lillian Smith Cavin. A.J. attended Sigourney schools and served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. On July 24, 1954 he married Geraldine B. Weber at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. They lived and farmed southeast of Sigourney, near Lancaster. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a township trustee of East Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Clint Cavin, two great grandsons Charlie Deitrich, Billy Cavin Berry, one brother James Cavin, three sisters Irene Flanegin, Cathy Graves and Ruth York.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine, three daughters Sandra (Mike) Hammes of Coralville, Jane (Ronnie) Deitrich of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Dennis) Johnston of Ottumwa, two sons Andy (Bonnie) Cavin of Sigourney, and Dan (Jae) Cavin of Hayesville, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one sister Bernadine Laud of Des Moines.
