Mrs. Alma Louise Catcott Obituary
Hummingbirds, butterflies and the color purple come to mind when thinking about Alma Louise Catcott. She was a graceful and feminine woman who always carried herself like a lady. She had a fantastic laugh and a beautiful smile that lit up the room.
Alma was born on March 14, 1931 to Harold and Lena Sutton of Packwood, Iowa. She was the eldest of 3 children, followed by her sister, Alta (1933) and her brother Dwain (1935).
Alma married the love of her life, Bill Catcott, on June 4,1949 in Packwood, IA. They shared a 74 year union until Bill's passing in 2023. Bill and Alma had 2 children, Jack Catcott of Georgetown, TX and Karen Armstrong of Austin, TX. Alma dutifully raised her children and carried out all of the tasks required of a farmer's wife. She and Bill created a warm and loving home where hard-work and faith in God were cornerstones of their life. They were very involved with their local church and their community. In 1991 they moved to Round Rock, Texas to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Alma radiated love and warmth to those close to her, particularly her beloved family. Alma especially adored watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She said they were her reason for living.
Alma is remembered by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for countless reasons, but some of the highlights include that she always kept her pantry stocked with Little Debbie Cakes (a family favorite), her love for needlepoint, reading, word search puzzles and the Wheel of Fortune. She had a love for bookkeeping and could find any detail upon a moment's notice; she could even tell you to the penny how much it cost for each of her children to be delivered!
Alma took care of those around her by vigorously researching any ailments which may have befallen them, and keeping records of the important life events of her family. She was a woman who deeply cared and her love could be felt by everyone who came into contact with her. Her signature sign-offs of "bye bye sweetums," "I love you doll" and many more terms of affection will forever be missed by her loved ones.
We know it was her time, but we were not ready for her to go. She will live on in our hearts forever, and we find peace in knowing that she has been reunited with her sweetheart for eternity. Whenever we see a hummingbird gracefully fly by, we will think of you Grandma.
Alma is survived by her children, Jack Catcott, his wife Joann, daughter, Karen Armstrong, grandchildren, Danika Yokubaitis, Kara Armstrong, Jenna Catcott, Jessica Catcott, James Catcott and great grandchildren, Lukka, Aela, Leo and Bear.
