Collene Fite, 82, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on March 22, 2020 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born on January 31, 1938 to Lyle and Nellie Thringer Coleman in Reardon, Washington. She married Lester Fite on August 4, 1956 in Davenport, Washington. He preceded her in death.
Collene was a housewife and took good care of her family. She loved to garden and can the produce from her garden. She enjoyed painting, music and dancing. She had a love for animals, especially cats. Collene travelled and camped whenever she could and she was a member of Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Janean (Don) Funk of Bloomfield, Iowa, Cindy (Danny) Yakle of Wapello, Iowa, Brenda (Mike) Gatlin of New London, Iowa; a son, Jeff (Rosemary) Fite of Ottumwa, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 2 sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; a son, Jay Fite; her parents, Lyle and Nellie Coleman; and a brother, Raymond Coleman.
Due to the CDC guidelines relating to the Covid-19 virus, the visitation and graveside service will be private. A private family burial will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery near Floris, Iowa at a later date. Memorial contribution's in Collene's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon. Memorials and cards of sympathy may me mailed c/o Brenda Gatlin, 507 N.
