Ottumwa, Iowa - On January 18, 2026 Dan won his race and met Jesus at the gate to the pasture that Jesus had already shown him.

He was born May 2, 1960 to David and Carla Murray Sr. Daniel grew up in Ottumwa Iowa. He married Carol Gries May 1, 1983.

Daniel enjoyed life no matter what it brought to him. He loved praising God and talking about Jesus with anyone who needed an encouraging word.

Surviving is his wife, Carol; children, Lindsay (Mark), Daniel (Crystal) and Colleen; 3 granddaughters, Jaylee, Malia and Violet; 3 grandsons, John (Brianna), Sebastian (Emily) and Elijah; 2 great granddaughters, Emma Rose and Freya; his mother, Carla; brothers, David (Brenda), Bob (DeeDee); a sister, Becky Lynn; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Murray Sr.; a brother, Douglas Murray; and a sister-in-law, Rebeckah.

Dan will be greatly missed by his family, church family and many great friends.

His body has been cremated. A time to celebrate his life may be held at a later date.
