Ottumwa, Iowa - David Frederick Cobler, 73, of rural Ottumwa, died July 19, 2025.
He was born August 25, 1951 in Ottumwa to Fred E. and Ruth Johnson Cobler. Dave married Bonnie L. Sandvig on July 24, 1976.
A 1969 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Dave had attended Iowa State University. Starting as a young boy, he loved farming and he had farmed all of his life. Dave had a heart for helping others.
Dave was a member of Northgate Alliance Church. He helped start, was a member and past president of Poppin' Johnnies in Wapello County and was well known in the Antique Tractor World. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and had hosted Harvest Days at his farm. He had been the representative for Wapello County to the Iowa Barn Association and had been a member of First Iowa Division Motorcar Club.
Surviving is his wife, Bonnie; their children, Stacie (Scott) Mason of Ottumwa, D.J. (Melissa) Cobler of Moravia and Tyler (Katie) Cobler of Ottumwa; 10 grandchildren, Carter, Luke, Dylan, Alyssa, Gentry, Hudson, Crew, Rhys, Cody and Noah; 2 great-grandchildren, Banxley and Ridge; 6 brothers, Mark, Chris, Tony, Joe, Brent and Brian Cobler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Janis Kay Cobler.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25th, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26th, at Northgate Alliance Church with Pastor Jim Eschenbrenner officiating.
Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center.
Memorials may be made to Northgate Alliance Church.
