Debra I. Wissler, 63, of Fremont, died Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the Parkview Manor in Wellman, Iowa. She was born Sunday, November 28, 1954, the daughter of Leonard and Bonnie Carlton Matthies. She graduated from Cardinal High School in Eldon with the Class of 1972 and later attended Indian Hills for a couple years. Deb worked for a time at Remington Arms in Arkansas and at A.Y. McDonald Manufacturing in Albia for several years. On December 10, 1999, Deb was united in marriage to Ernest E. Wissler, Jr. in Fremont. Ernie died April 16, 2014. She enjoyed making bead jewelry and she loved her cats.

She is survived by her sister: Lori (& Mark) Milligan of Fremont; two brothers: Alan (& Kim) Matthies of Smithville, Missouri and Lennie (& Joby) Matthias of Panora, Iowa; two half-brothers: Lenny (& Michelle) Matthies and Tony (& Shannon) Matthies both of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters: Julie Brouse and Peggy Jespersen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 2 P.M. in Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Reverend Jim Eschenbrenner officiating. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery at Eldon. No visitation is planned at this time. Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society or to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
