Ottumwa, Iowa - Dixie Davis, 78, of Sigourney and formerly of Ottumwa and Hedrick, died Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Stone Cottages Care Center in Sigourney. She was born on December 19, 1946, at the family home in Fremont, the daughter of Charles Edward and Katherine Elizabeth Keasling Pearson. She attended Fremont Schools. She was united in marriage to Terry Smith. To this union two children were born Rick and Tammy. Terry and Dixie later divorced. Dixie was later married to Jerry Davis. She welcomed Jerry's children, Mike, Chrissy, Julie, Barb, Michele, and Nicky, into her home with open arms. Dixie spent most of her working life working in cafes in Fremont and Hedrick. She owned the Hedrick Café for a few years. Later in life she worked at Sigourney Foods and Design Homes. Lastly, she worked at Taco John's in Ottumwa and Oskaloosa, retiring from there. In her youth she enjoyed hunting. Later in life she enjoyed painting ceramics with her family, playing cards, and trips to the casino.

Her family includes her two children, Ricky Smith of Hedrick and Tammy (Jim) Houk of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Rachel Weinhold, Terry (Jennifer) Whitlatch, and Elizabeth Smith; ten great grandchildren, Daven, Ruin, Lydia, Abigail, Constanance, Tobias, Corbin, Liliana, Tyler, and Kirkland, Jr.; a special daughter, Tracy McElroy; and a brother, Lloyd "Moondog" (Norma) Pearson of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Johnathan.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family will be at the Fremont Funeral Chapel Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 1-3 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Essence of Life Hospice.
