Ottumwa, Iowa - Donald Dwain Stevens, 95, of Ottumwa, died August 10, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.

He was born February 6, 1930 in Ottumwa to William and Anna Pearson Stevens. Don married Donna Rae Peterson on November 22, 1962 and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2010.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1948, Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany from 1953 -1954.

Don had worked as a purchasing agent and risk manager for Ottumwa Regional Health Center and Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines before becoming purchasing agent and risk manager for the City of Ottumwa. He retired in 1995.

He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Ottumwa, the YMCA and had volunteered for Heartland Humane Society.

Surviving is his daughter, Karen (Bob) Strickland of Chandler, AZ; two granddaughters, Kim (Katie) Nauman of Bloomfield and Courtney (David) Gardea of Mesa, AZ; and a special friend, Joan Hartley.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane "Pete" and Arlene Peterson.

Visitation will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 14th, at Reece Funeral Home.

The family will be present to greet friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, August 15th, prior to the service.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 15th, at Reece Funeral Home with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bob Strickland, Malcolm Ellis, Andy O'Brien, Austin O'Brien, Marcus O'Brien and Quentin Bishop.

Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military honors conducted by Walter. B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church or Heartland Humane Society.
