Bloomfield, Iowa - Geraldine Alice Robinson, 85, of Bloomfield and formerly of Fremont, died on Monday, November 18, 2019, at her home in Bloomfield. She was born April 5, 1934, in rural Monroe County, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Dorothy (McCombs) Vance. She attended Moravia High School and graduated with the Class of 1952. On January 13, 1957, she was united in marriage to Raymond M. Robinson at the Christian Church in Ottumwa. To this union six children were born, Cindi, Rhonda, Julie, Brett, Tim, and Tom. Geraldine and Raymond shared 62 years of marriage together until his passing in August 2019.

Geraldine worked as an assistant at a law firm in Oskaloosa before taking a job at the Fremont Gazette Newspaper. She later worked at the Farmers Savings Bank in Fremont for many years before retiring.

Geraldine was a former member of the Eastern Star in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Raymond, going on family fishing trips, tending to her garden, sewing, bowling on a Saturday League in Oskaloosa, spending time with her sisters and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Geraldine was an animal lover of both cats and dogs. She was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her six children, Cindi (Dan) Crigler, Rhonda (Larry) Richardson, Julie Wickert (Tom Delzell), Brett Robinson, Tim (Michelle) Robinson and Tom (Cindy) Robinson; 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy (John) McDonald, Elizabeth (Howard) Pigg; a sister-in-law, Merrily Vance and a brother-in-law, Frank Wren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Robinson; her parents, Marvin and Dorothy Vance; a granddaughter, Brooke Sampson; her brother, Raymond Vance and a sister, DaVonna Wren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Reverend Elizabeth Pigg officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel with the family present to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Humane Society.
