Gilbert, LA - Funeral services were held for Mrs Glenda Stephens of Gilbert LA on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church (7678 Gilbert Street; Gilbert LA 71336) with Bro Bobby Ensminger officiating. Interment followed @ South Central Baptist Cemetery in Winser LA under the direction of Young's Community Memorial of Winnsboro LA. Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 5-8 pm at the church.

Mrs Stephens was born April 16, 1941, in Ottumwa IA and passed from this life on January 5, 2026, in Winnsboro LA @ the age of 84. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, was a tax preparer, along with other clerical positions (Iowa Department of Human Services-Ottumwa District Office), as well as coached Ottumwa Community Area Girls Softball for the Y in her younger years. She enjoyed quilting, genealogy research, football but most of all spending time with those she loved dearly. Glenda was a plain-spoken person, leaving no questions as to her thoughts or opinions, if asked. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Paul and Juanita McKitrick LaPoint; one son, Richard Wayne Coffin; brothers: Howard LaPoint, Richard LaPoint and John LaPoint; sisters: Marilyn McLaughlin, Vi LaPoint and Jerri LaPoint.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 38 years, Grady Stephens, of Gilbert LA; her children: Elaine (Robert) Houston of Delhi LA and Kirk Coffin of Gilbert LA; Mike (Kay) Stephens; Jeff (Barbara) Stephens; Deborah Gibbs, all of Gilbert LA; Keith (Ashley) Stephens of Winnsboro LA; and Jason (Tiffany) Stephens of Plano TX; one sister: Willa (Ron) Stanley of Hedrick IA and five grandchildren: Jessica, Nicole, Catelynn, Stephanie and Jacob. She's also survived by a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers were Wayne Lowe, Marty Roberts, Randy Sewell, Greg Tabor, Jacob Houston and Dusty Ward. Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Sewell, Gary Martin and Ted Holder.
