Harold Richard Coop, age 86, went to his heavenly home on August 31, 2023. He was born in Monroe County, Iowa on July 10, 1937 to Albert E. and Velda Marie (Smith) Coop.

Harold married Mary DeMoss on September 18, 1954. They were blessed with 4 children, Vickie, Richard, Penny, and Kimberly. Harold enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954 and spent 4 years on 2 aircraft carriers and a escort carrier. When he retired from John Deere Company in Ottumwa he enjoyed his retirement by camping, fishing, and wintering in Texas for many years.

Harold is survived by his wife, Mary of 69 years; children, Vickie (John) Hauge, Richard Coop, Penny Jones; seven grandkids, James McClurg, Josh Coop, Megan Summers, Chelsea Francis, Jennifer Jass, Brenda Smithberg, Mary Ellen McCombs; great grandchildren, Millie Coop, Josh Coop Jr., Alyra Boomgarden, Aryia Francis, Rowen Francis, Xander Jass, Gabby Jass, Joe Smithberg, Mariah Smithberg, Mickenzie McCombs; son-in-law, Roger Vance, sister-in-law JoAnn Coop. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Velda Coop; Daughter, Kimberly Vance; grandchildren, Dan McClurg & Christiana Jones; great grandchildren, Nathan, Zach, & Alexis Jass; two brothers, Leslie and Donald Coop; sons-in-law, Bobby McClurg & Jim Jones; daughter-in-law, Debbie Coop.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Dennis & Teresa Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Cuba Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia, opening to the public at 3:00 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
