Ottumwa, Ia - Harold Luthi, 94, of Ottumwa died at 5:06 p.m. April 13, 2026 at his home.

He was born March 19, 1932 in Detroit, KS to Godfred and Rosa Iseli Luthi. He married Phyllis West and they had two sons, Ronald and David. They later divorced. He married Sheryl Sterns Butler June 4, 1993.

A 1950 graduate of Chapman High School. Harold grew up on a farm in Kansas and moved to Ottumwa. Living in the Chicago area, he built houses before moving back to Ottumwa where he worked at Earl's Fina and the labor union for several years. He then went to work at Ottumwa Regional Health Center as a boiler tech, retiring in 1998.

Harold was a handyman and did work for people all over town. He was a hard worker.

Surviving is his wife, Sheryl; a son, Ronald (Denise) Luthi of Discovery Bay, CA; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Luthi; 3 stepchildren, Jason (Mary) Butler of Bluegrass, IA, Rochelle Palen (Angie Coker) of Ottumwa, Ryan Butler of Denver, CO; 20 grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Allen, Matt Luthi, Kayla (Ben) VanLoon, Kelly (Seth) Hoskins, Kelsey (Danny) Stooksberry, Kaitlin (Curtis) VanVee, Markus Luthi, Shawn Ward, Dani Scott, Chloe Butler, Drew Butler, Ariana Butler, Aniston Butler, Symone Palen, Avery (Tori) Palen, Sophia (Juan) Palen, Parker Palen, Connor (Kaylie) Davis, Kamryn Butler, Kadin LaChance; 32 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Luthi; 4 sisters, Marie Olsen, Eva Barber, Vera Wagner, and a twin sister, Hazel Brenner; 2 brothers, Raymond and Glenn Luthi; his beloved dog, Lilly.

Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16th, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 17th, at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
