Jack Dean Paris Obituary

Jack D. Paris, 84, of Salisbury, NC, died at 7:30 am on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

He was born December 15, 1940, to Basil and Betty (Stufflebeam) Paris. Jack was raised in Southern Iowa, and after graduation from high school, he began a forty-six-year career in TV management that took him from Iowa to Illinois to Missouri to South Carolina to Virginia to Louisiana to Nevada to Florida to Pennsylvania, where he retired as the VP of a group of thirteen TV stations.

Jack also formed his first band while in high school. They performed in many teen clubs around the region. He eventually turned to country music, which he performed for twenty years, simultaneously with his broadcasting career. He and his band performed throughout the Midwest, appearing as the opening act for many Nashville stars, performing on a weekly TV show, and singing for AMVETS, Eagles, and Lions clubs. Jack flew to Nashville for many recording sessions, which resulted in forty-five singles and five albums.

After twenty years of working in two distinctly different professions, he faced the difficult decision of choosing one or the other. He stopped performing in 1978. In 1992, Jack met the love of his life, Bernice, and they have been inseparable ever since. Upon retiring from broadcasting, Jack and Bernice traveled for almost a year before moving to North Carolina. He began writing Bible studies for his church and short stories. This eventually led to the publication

of his children's book Sweet Southern Stories.

He is survived by his wife Bernice, daughters Lisa and Angela, and sisters Jane and Joyce. He will be missed by his grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to express their deep gratitude to his special friends and home health nurses,

Amanda and Holly.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Janet and Joann, and his brother Dick.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, at Rowan Funeral Home, 1709 N. Long St. in Salisbury, NC.
