Jason Keith Long Sr., known affectionately by many as "Jbird", passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 44. He was born on December 20, 1978, in Ottumwa, IA. Jason was a loving and dedicated resident of his town for all his life. He was a compassionate soul, sharing his love for the outdoors, and especially yard work, with the community through his business, Jason's Mowing, for over 12 years. Jason, with his characteristic dedication, had made a significant impact on the people and spaces around him, leading to a well-loved and respected reputation.

Jason was a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and his love for the thrill of the race extended to his enjoyment of dirt track races, with Oskaloosa and Eldon holding special places in his heart. Aside from his professional dedication to lawn care, Jason was also a passionate hobbyist, spending countless hours mowing and maintaining lawns, which was a testament to his love for the outdoors. His funny nature and genuine warmth made him a cherished presence at family gatherings. Above all, however, the most important thing to Jason was his family, whom he cherished deeply.

Jason was the beloved husband of his wife, whom he married on July 4, 2012. Their love story is one filled with dedication and compassion that will continue to inspire their loved ones.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Long of Ottumwa; children, Jason "JJ" Long Jr. of Ottumwa, Alexis Long of Ottumwa; Mother, Connie (Don) Jones of Ottumwa; siblings, Ray Jr. (Kathy) Lasser of Ottumwa, Stacy (Lonny) Courtney Matheney of Bloomfield, Jeremy (Alicia) Long of Ottumwa, Clifford (Rita) McNeal of Ottumwa.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Gary Long, and adopted parents, Bill and Bonnie McNeal. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Jason's body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the family at 528 Bryan Rd. Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
