Jeannine Ann Smithart
Jeannine Ann (Beer) Smithart died peacefully with her two daughters by her side, on November 6, 2019
She resided at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale, Colorado. She was 87 years old.
Jeannine was born Jeannine Nicol Beer, later changed to Jeannine Ann Beer, on April 23, 1932 in Chariton, Iowa to Joe Frederick Beer of Centerville, Iowa and Bernice Nicol Harris of Mystic, Iowa.
She had two brothers, Joe Harris Beer (deceased) and Don Beer (deceased).
The Beer family lived in Ottumwa, Iowa in the same home from 1936-1949.
Jeannine loved to dance and sing! Her dad owned a dance studio in the early 1930s and was a wonderful dancer. He taught her how to ballroom dance, tap shoe and ballet. Her dad's parents, Mose and Nellie (Swearingen) Beer, had been vaudeville actors in the late 1800s. Her mom Bernice graduated from Drake University as a music instructor. Bernice played the piano and had a beautiful voice.
Jeannine was well liked & very active in her community as a young person.
After graduating from high school she attended MacMurry College in Jacksonville, Illinois.
On February 24th 1951 Jeannine married Norman Leon Smithart of Fairfield, Iowa. Son of Leon and Marie (Wimpsett) Smithart from Perry, Iowa.
In 1957 the Smithart Family moved to Europe residing as civilians in Germany and Belgium until 1969.
Jeannine and her three children Michelle, Mark and Renee returned to the United States and settled in Ft. Collins Colorado. She became clerk typist for the Civil Service Department of Colorado.In 1971 Jeannine moved to Aspen, Colorado working as secretary for the Ashcroft ober Aspen Ski Touring Company.
After her two older children left home in 1973,Jeannine and her youngest child Renee moved to Crawford Colorado to a property she named Sweetbriar which she loved and resided there for 20 years.
Jeannine's health took a turn in 1993 for the worse, she no longer could live on Sweetbriar. In the summer of 1993 she moved to Bigfork, Montana.
Not long after her move, Jeannine left with her son Mark and traveled.
In the Fall of 2012 Jeannine returned home and eventually moved to Carbondale, Colorado residing at Heritage Park. Her daughters lived close by.
Her final days were spent in a warm and loving environment surrounded by family, friends and a caring staff.
Jeannine is survived by her daughter Michelle B Smithart New & John Robert New, granddaughter Kyla Nicol New Herbst & husband Garrett Lee Herbst & great grandson Emmett Lee Herbst; Son Mark Kevin Smithart,
Daughter Renee Ann Smithart, grand children John Tracy Volk, great granddaughter Tillie Taylor Volk,
Elizabeth Nicol Baumann & husband Allen J Baumann, great grandchildren Jordan Caleb Sheldon & Kayleigh May Baumann, Jeannine Michelle Rea & husband Michael Anthony Rea, great grandchildren Autumn Leigh Rea & Carson Michael Rea.
Jeannine will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and many friends.
