Jim  Baggs
Jim Kirk Baggs, 69, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on November 3, 2019 at his home. He was born January 6, 1950 in Unionville, Missouri to James Edward and Maxine Valee Smith Baggs. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1968 and served in the Army (1969-1971) during Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. On October 6, 1984, Jim married Janet Fisk in Drakesville, Iowa. The couple had a daughter, Kathryn.

Jim worked for UPS for 35 years, retiring in 2012. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed going for drives, and was a huge fan of the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Baggs; daughter, Kathryn (Evan Schenck) Baggs of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Denise Eakins of Ottumwa; brother-in-law, Richard Fisk of Horn Lake, Mississippi; nephews, Tony (Sara) Patkin of Ankeny, Iowa, James (Amy) Young of Blue Rapids, Kansas, Brian (Amanda) Eakins of Ottumwa; and great-nieces and nephews, Morgan, Alex, Audrey Patkin, Bradley, Braden, Breanna, Brooklynn Young, Madison, Draiven, Allivia Eakins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Irene Fisk; and sister-in-law, Carol (Raymond) Patkin.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jon Klaus officiating. Cremation will follow the services and burial of the cremated remains will be at the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. We had the pleasure of getting to know Jim through Katy. He was a devoted husband and father. Janet and Katy will always be able to remember the love and support he showed them. He will be missed.
