Jimmy Lee Vannoy (Jim) Obituary

Jimmy L. Vannoy, age 74, of Hedrick, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Jim was born on October 5, 1945 the son of Theodore and Bernadine (Paxton) Vannoy in Farson, Iowa. He attended school in Farson and later graduated from the Hedrick High School with the Class of 1963. After graduation, he attended Indian Hills Community College for his trucking certificate.

Jim drove truck until becoming disabled in the 1990's, leaving him unable to continue working. He took up mowing yards and other small jobs to earn extra money and stay busy. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, hunting and tinkering and fixing equipment.

He is survived by his son, Ryan Vannoy of Farson; his granddaughter, Mackinzie Vannoy, 2 brothers, Gary (Millie) Vannoy of Richland and Randy (Julie) Vannoy of Farson; his former wife, Vicki Vannoy of Ottumwa and a nephew, Lonnie (Jessica) Vannoy of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Caroline Pilger and Diane Till.

As was Jim's wish, his body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family to be determined at a later date.
