Farmington, MN - Karen Lynn Murray, age 83. Born in Masonic Hospital in Chicago, IL on August 22, 1942. Passed away in Lakeville, MN June 12, 2026. Raised in Ottumwa, Iowa on North View St. Graduated from High School 1960 Ottumwa High School. Attended Indian Hills College, Ottumwa, finished teaching credentials in Kirksville, MO. Teaching English, Special Ed in Ottumwa, IA. Norfolk, Va, Eva Beach, HI, Burnsville, MN. Finished career as Engineering Writer with Unisys/Lockheed Martin for 26 years.
Survived by her husband of 40 years, Larry G. Murray and step children, Patrick (Anita), Joel (Sheila), Jodi (Stephen), Larry Jr. (Carrie), and Lori (Nate); sister-in-law Sheila Markstrom and husband Greg of Lakeville, brother-in-law, Roy Murray of Walker, MN; niece, Lisa (Tom) Morgan; nephew, Mark (Angie) Peters and their children, Patin and Maddux of Ottumwa, IA. Also survived by ex-husband, Nick McCalester and wife Connie of New Bern, NC. And by her loyal rescue dog Kuper-her special boy. Preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Edith Hallgren; sister, Donna Peters; uncle, Don and aunt Donna Hallgren all from Ottumwa, IA.
Karen will be buried in the Ottumwa cemetery and greatly missed by Larry and Kuper and by all. She was our guiding light. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for our time together. I wish to thank the Ridges Hospital for Karen's care and especially Suite Living Care Center for the exceptional care with MN Hospice for her final days. Also thank you to the crew at Apple Valley Applebee's. Especially to Vicky, Ana, and Lillian for making things better for Karen.
