Karl L Calhoun, age 69, passed away on November 15, 2020 at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia, Iowa. He was born April 17, 1951 in Centerville, Iowa to Delbert and Dorothy Calhoun. He attended schools in Iconium and Moravia and graduated from Albia Community High School. He then graduated from Centerville Community College. He lived and farmed his entire life in the Iconium area. He was a member of the Iconium Methodist Church and was recently attending church in Moravia.

Karl enjoyed playing games, especially Rook and Pitch, with various groups of friends at least weekly. In the past few years he had a good time dancing with friends. Some of his hobbies were fishing, golf, and hunting. He truly enjoyed working with cows on the farm. He had a talent for growing beautiful flowers. He often placed flowers on the graves of people in several cemeteries.

Karl was especially good at caring for our mother after she had her stroke. During this time, longtime friend Patricia DeVore was of great assistance.

Visiting with older friends in care centers, giving them a rose, taking them on drives, and/or taking them to lunch was one of Karl's gifts that enriched the lives of many people.

Karl was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his brother Richard (Pam), nephew John (Alix), niece Jill, grandnephew Ryan, grandniece Jane, all of California and nephew Steven (and friend Kim) of Nevada. He also leaves many cousins and friends.

During the past few years Wilma Wilson and Karl became close friends, spending time together. They especially enjoyed playing their favorite dice game.

Donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Services, including a celebration of life, are being planned for spring of 2021.
