Katherine Brock
Katherine "Kate" Adeline Brock, age 79, of Albia passed away on Friday evening August 28, 2020, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 25, 1940 in Rock Island, IL to John and Theresa (Fedrizzi) Gutcher.
Kate was salutatorian of Albia High School, Class of 1959. She was blessed with four children, Chris, Sheila, Greg, and Suzanne. She worked at the Knoxville Veterans Hospital following high school. She was a devoted wife, mother, and worked every aspect of the family farm. Once her youngest daughter Suzi turned 4, she then owned and operated Albia Realty.
She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She never met a stranger, and enjoyed being active including gardening, canning, cooking and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include: Mick Brock of Albia; children, Chris (Romy) Brock of Los Angeles, Sheila Brock of Toronto, Greg Brock of Indianapolis, Suzanne Brock of Connecticut; three grandchildren, Emily Kleiber, Aidan Kleiber, Evan Brock; siblings, Judy (Larry) Stone of Florida, and Tom Gutcher of Fort Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Theresa Gutcher.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with Father Mark Yates C.PP.S. officiating. Inurnment will follow services in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 open to the public from 2-7 p.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event. Masks will be required at the Celebration of Life Mass. Memorials may be directed to a charity of choice. Services will be live streamed on the Sinnott Funeral Home facebook page. Online condolences may be left for the family at sinnottfuneralhome.com.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
