Ottumwa, Iowa - Kathie Lint Bissell, 79, of Clive, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026.

Born in Ottumwa to Charles "Pete" and Frances Doak Lint, she married her high school sweetheart, Tom, in 1969.

A proud Ottumwa High School graduate, Kathie also graduated from Ottumwa Heights College and Parsons College. She taught at Irving Elementary School before relocating to Sioux City.

Later, Kathie and Tom moved to Des Moines where they started their family. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her children, volunteering at their schools, and running the household.

In the days before cell phones, Kathie kept many long distance phone companies in business while staying in touch with family and friends. Later, when they settled in Wisconsin, she built lasting friendships and became a devoted supporter of Pewaukee High School football and basketball teams, cheering from the stands for years.

After Tom retired, they returned to the Des Moines area, where she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, friends, neighbors, and any dog that wanted attention.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; son Chad (Emily) of Clive, Iowa, with grandchildren Avery and Lauren Bissell; and daughter Jennifer (Brent) Achenbach of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, with grandchildren Chance and Paige Achenbach.

Visitation with her family present to greet friends will be held at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa on June 23rd from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society.
