Oskaloosa, Iowa - Kathleen Joyce Wilkin, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, was born on November 28, 1940, in Monroe County to John H. and Florence R. (Gray) Wilkin. Kathleen passed away on March 20, 2025 at Mahaska Health, leaving a legacy of love and dedication marked by her generous spirit and supportive nature.
Kathleen dedicated her professional life to serving as an Administrative Assistant at Paxton Lumber, where she retired after 47 1/2 years of faithful service. A lover of all things meticulously crafted, Kathleen found joy in sewing and crocheting, creating countless treasures for friends and family. Her passion for sports shone brightly through her unwavering support for the Chicago Cubs, a love she nurtured for over 30 years, first through the radio waves and later through the television screen at Homestead Assisted Living. Graduating with class of 1958 in Eddyville; her high school years saw her skillfully navigating the basketball court, demonstrating her athleticism and team spirit. Music also held a special place in Kathleen's heart, and she found solace and joy in the melodies of Daniel O'Donnell.
Kathleen's favorite color was purple, and it extended to the entire interior of her house, and wardrobe. Her love was not confined to her hobbies; it extended generously to her family. Though she never married, she was a loving and devoted aunt to her 17 nieces and nephews. What mattered most to Kathleen was her mother and family. She poured her heart into nurturing these relationships, and her absence will be deeply felt.
She is survived by two siblings, Grace (Ronald) Francis of Oskaloosa, Archie (Karen) Wilkin of Mesa, AZ, 17 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Carol Wilkin, and brother-in-law, Jack Tingle. She was preceded in death by parents, John H. and Florence R. (Gray) Wilkin; three brothers, J.I., James, William; one sister, Shirley Tingle.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. Memorials may be directed to the Eddyville Volunteer Fire Department. Eddyville Celebrate Life Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
